About the Aerialist

Emily Jesse is a professional aerialist and seasoned aerial instructor based out of Houston, Texas. Living in the air is no “flight of fancy” for Emily Jesse. For nearly a decade she has propelled herself to new heights through rigorous aerial training. Emily’s abilities have taken her on many adventures, having performed from coast to coast and even on the other side of the Atlantic. 

Background

Emily discovered aerial dance in 2009, but her love of movement began as a child – a love that was fueled, in part, by her childhood obsession with the musical Grease & the movie Dirty Dancing.

Today, Emily trains, teaches, and performs on various aerial apparatuses, including silks, trapeze, rope, and custom fabricated apparatuses.  As an instructor at Hunter Dance Center and as a guest teacher in studios across Texas, she works to empower students both in class and in their daily lives.  A love of aerial allows people to accomplish goals they never believed possible. As a performer, Emily connects with audiences through strong characterization and narrative-driven choreography. 

Prior to teaching at Hunter Dance Center, Emily spent seven years teaching trapeze and fabric at VauLt.  She completed fabric and trapeze/lyra level 1-3 teacher trainings with VauLt in Houston, TX and Paper Doll Militia’s Level 1 Aerial Silks in Oakland, CA.  She has attended festivals, workshops, and lessons with aerialists from all over the world, each one influencing her teaching style and training strategies.
